With millions of wedding dress styles out there, finding the right one can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. But don’t despair – we have a few tips to help you find the perfect fit for your special day – one that will help you exude the confidence and beauty within you!
It may seem like the neckline of your dress is not as important as the overall fit but trust us, a flattering neckline can be a game changer. The key is to select one that accentuates your best features. To accentuate your upper half, go with a sweetheart, or V-neck neckline. To accentuate your collarbones and draw more attention to your face, go with a boat or square-cut neckline. Overall, it’s important to select a neckline that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful!
Second, pick a style that works best for your shape. For example, a ball gown is typically distinguished by a very full skirt, while the silhouette has a fitted bodice and is cinched at the natural waist. This style works well for brides with straight figures.
An A Line wedding dress – where the cut is narrow at the top and extends out along the body in the shape of an “A;” is one of the most popular skirt silhouettes because it’s super-flattering on everyone.
Of course, just like everyday fashion, wedding dress styles are constantly changing. We’ve tracked down a few of the trending 2017 wedding dress styles that we like the best. One hot trend we like for 2017 is backless dresses. Combine it with a form fitting gown and you’ll look chic and classic on your wedding day.
Another trending style we like is the “illusion-lace back” which consists of nude-colored mesh covered by intricate gemstone designs. What’s really cool is there are a number of ways you can put your own mark on this trend. Pair an illusion-lace back with long sleeves and high neckline that still offers just a hint of skin. Or, go sleeveless and V-Neck for a summery and more contemporary look. Insider says “…with illusion details making the back of the dress a focal point, brides can make sure their gown looks stunning from every angle.”
We also love the detachable train, which has become more and more popular among brides. They’re perfect for a dramatic look as the bride walks down the aisle, but the long, flowing train can then be removed for the reception and post wedding festivities.
While it’s hip to be trendy, you should always be true to yourself and your fashion sense, especially on your big day. “Try not to get caught up in the trend of the moment, but instead focus on your personal style and what flatters you most,” says gown designer Amsale Aberra. And we think that’s pretty good advice!
